What future holds for Engineering Students?
The Trend in News:
Indian scenario of education have been stagnant for pretty long and now demands a refreshing up-gradation of system. From basic education to professional courses, India needs a system with less complexity and more flexibility in terms of learning. Recently the season of Admissions in various Engineering Universities/Colleges was the hottest topic in news as the number of admissions continued to decrease. And the interesting fact here is that this scenario is not only in various Private Universities/Colleges but also in the reputed premier institutes like IIT's and NIT's.
The Conclusion:
"News guides conclusion". Yes this is the line which clarifies how an average person in India can give conclusions on Education, Government, Politics, Cricket etc. If news says "Good", the opinion of majority of Indians will be positive. If news says "Bad", than for sure we know this is a disaster. Maybe this post hurts our sentiments (as I am also an Indian) but will surely give a glimpse of real agenda behind the news.
This post is to discuss the current Engineering education scenario in India and highlight the future options of students pursuing or interested in pursuing engineering courses in India.
Does B.Tech., B.E. has very less scope?
So majority of crowd (as we seldom think differently) is strongly having an opinion that " Days of Engineering are gone". They have evidence of this fact which is in form of news and associated data.
But if data is correct than how does these technological advancements take place: Solar energy, Energy Efficient LED lamps, Electrical Vehicles, Robotics, Drones, Smart Watch, Smart TV, Quick charging technology, Wireless chargers, Sensor based Automobile guiding systems, Wearable Health Gadgets and the list goes on. All these are result of Engineering applications for betterment of society and people. But all these seldom comes in news as "Power" of Engineering.
So it means B.Tech., B.E. is good for a student!!
This will come in mind after reading above discussion. But this approach is not 100% correct. Neither can I nor anyone other than the student himself say what is good for a student. There are various other domains of study like Science, Arts, Commerce, Music etc. Each one is good for an interested student who loves to do something in that field. The basic education system must provide basic knowledge to students along with clarity of mind to decide their professional education on basis of their interest rather than trend.

What can an Engineering student expect in future?
Be it diploma or graduation, the current market demands competitive minds with creative approach. So the current Engineering students must be ready to face challenges and be flexible to grab opportunities in inter-disciplinary fields. Enjoy the growth of technology, learn the basics and prepare to contribute at personal level.
Government jobs are the first choice for an engineering student in India but don't ignore all the perks offered by Private Engineering and Technology sector. If a students can develop a product suitable for real life utilization than he/she can get funding to start their own startup.

Future is bright for an engineering student with a lot of opportunities in each stream of engineering in India. India needs Engineering innovation to be among top technologically advanced countries in the world.
